About Hoofbeat Ridge
Nestled in the rolling hills of Mazomanie, Hoofbeat ridge is a family-run equestrian camp that provides classroom and outdoor space, food, and lodging to WFR participants
Location and Directions
Checking In
Hoofbeat Ridge is located at 5304 Reeve Rd, Mazomanie, WI 53560
Arrivals: Students staying on campus may arrive any time between 6 - 11 PM the night prior to your course.
When you arrive, look for the flagged table in the parking area. A campus map will show you the building you'll be staying in. A sign-in sheet will help us know you’ve arrived safely.
Parking: The parking lot is the first left turn after the main entrance. Please park efficiently, in the same direction as other cars. The bunkhouses are nearby, so please unload from the parking lot.
Food
We frequently receive compliments on Hoofbeat meals. Expect warm, hearty meals and plenty of options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Your course enrollment includes all meals, beginning with breakfast the first day of your course, through lunch on the last day of your course.
Hoofbeat does not provide dinner the evening before the course begins. You can find groceries and a few small restaurants nearby (5 minutes) in Mazomanie, with greater selection further east on Hwy 14 in Black Earth and Cross Plains.
Breakfast will be served at 7:15 AM Friday morning. Lunches will be served around 12:15 PM and dinner at 5:30 PM. Times are subject to changes by Hoofbeat or the course instructor, to facilitate course schedule or Hoofbeat needs. Hoofbeat staff strive to provide hot, delicious meals and timing is important. Please respect their efforts and plan to be timely.
Commuter Students
Even if you opt to stay off-campus, we recommend taking advantage of the wonderful meals Hoofbeat provides. If you’re not sleeping at Hoofbeat, you can still join for any meals, or bring a container and take food to-go.
Dietary Restrictions
Hoofbeat Ridge is able to meet most, but not all dietary needs and preferences, including common allergens and vegetarian (not vegan), dairy-free, and gluten-free diets. Be sure to note any dietary restrictions, allergies, or preferences upon registration, so our hosts can prepare. Please email us if you have specific concerns.
Dry Campus
Hoofbeat Ridge is a dry campus, so please do not bring any alcohol with you.
Accommodations
Bunkhouse Options: Ted from Hoofbeat will post signage indicating bunkhouses for male-identifying students, female-identifying students, and a gender-inclusive bunkhouse. Make yourselves at home and rest up for class the next day.
The mattresses in the bunkhouses are naked, so please remember to bring linens, pillows, bedding, towel, etc. Some students prefer to bring additional padding to make the mattress more comfortable (sleeping pad, thick yoga mat, etc.)
Camping: If you prefer, you may camp in your vehicle, but tent camping is not permitted. If you choose to sleep in your vehicle, please note the parking lot is not large enough to accommodate large (Class C) RV’s, and there are no water or electricity hook ups available.
Cell Service/Wifi: Most cell service plans work well at Hoofbeat, but some do not. You’ll find out when you get there! WiFi is available on campus (no password necessary), but is not generally fast enough to accommodate any sort of streaming video.
Pets: Pets of any kind are not permitted at Hoofbeat Ridge
Checking Out: Those staying in the dorms must pack up their things and leave the dorms at lunch time on the last day of the course so Hoofbeat staff can clean dorms in preparation for evening arrivals.

Help with Moodle
What is Moodle?
Moodle is the online learning platform WMAI uses to facilitate pre-course documents and homework. You must enroll in Moodle at least 2 weeks prior to your course so that you receive critical course communications.
How do I enroll in Moodle?
Upon enrollment, you should have received a confirmation email, which includes your course-specific enrollment link as well as your course’s enrollment key. Simply click the link (or paste in your browser), and enter the enrollment key to get started. If you didn’t receive a confirmation email, please check your spam folder, and feel free to reach out if you need to request a new one.
Need more help?
We’ve compiled some of our own helpful resources, as well as resources directly from WMAI. If these don’t help, give us a call at (608) 616-5076 or send us an email.
How to Pay Your Tuition Balance
In order to gain access to course materials, you must first pay your course tuition balance. Upon registration, we sent you an electronic invoice, via Square. Please search your inbox for an email from Square to find the invoice, which you can pay online or by mailing a check. If you have trouble finding it or have questions, just let us know.
