Saturday, October 10th, 2026 | 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM
Learn what it takes to climb on the “sharp” end in this traditional lead climbing clinic at Devils Lake State Park. We’ll cover reading a route for protection and hazards, placing solid gear on lead, managing a ropeline, and managing your mental game.

Equipment is included, but we encourage participants to bring their own gear to gain comfort and familiarity.

Equipment: We provide ropes and any personal climbing equipment you don't already own (harness, helmet, climbing shoes, chalk). Traditional protection "rack" is also included, but we encourage participants to bring their own gear to gain comfort and familiarity.

Prerequisites: Participants should be comfortable building solid top-rope anchors using natural and artificial protection. This means you have built 25+ “gear” anchors (not on bolts) that you and others have climbed on. You should know all these knots and have experience placing assorted protection (nuts, hexes, Tricams, cams).

***Participants must be registered for the Quartzite Classic Festival to join this course. This trip will not run if less than 5 students enroll.***
