Top-Rope Climbing for Girl Scouts of Wisconsin - Badgerland
***This trip will not run if less than 12 participants enroll***
Learn to climb outdoors on real rock cliffs! Whether you have developed some indoor climbing skills already or will be climbing for the first time, all WI Badgerland Girl Scouts ages 9+ are welcome to join us. Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors are all welcome!
You need to be able to hike about 20 minutes up a steep trail, but you don’t need to have prior climbing experience. Our guides will create a supportive environment for all of us to cheer each other on while you learn to find your path up the wall, practice creative problem solving, and connect with nature. Climbing outside builds confidence, trust, fitness, and camaraderie - you’ll never forget this adventure!
Devil’s Lake Climbing Guides is offering a full-day outdoor top-roping trip, just for Girl Scouts of Wisconsin members, at Devil’s Lake State Park.
DLCG instructors will set up anchors and ropes, provide equipment harnesses, helmets, and climbing shoes for anyone who needs them, and provide instruction as needed on belaying, climbing technique, knots, technical topics, Leave No Trace, and more.
Time: 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Who’s invited? Badgerland Girl Scouts members ages 9+; parents may join to watch, but must sign a waiver, wear a climbing helmet (DLCG can provide), and comply with instructor guidance
Prerequisites: None; we welcome beginners!
Bring: Closed-toed hiking shoes, a backpack (20-30 liters), lunch/snacks, 2+ liters of water, layers appropriate for the weather, sunscreen/bug spray
