Brandon Mortimore

I grew up in Verona, WI with my two brothers and my dog Nova. I discovered climbing  on a day trip with DLCG as a kid. I was initially intimidated, having no idea how to climb. However, with some pointers from my guide, it turned out to be more approachable than I thought, and I had a great time!

This experience led me to attend a week at Teen Climbing Camp where I made great friendships and fell in love with climbing. I later joined the Boulders Climbing Team in Madison with some of the friends that I met at Teen Climbing Camp. With the guidance of coaches and motivation from new peers, I improved substantially as a climber, even traveling for new adventures. My two favorite climbing trips have been in Estes Park, CO and Fontainebleau, France.

While in Wisconsin, I take every opportunity I can to get outside and enjoy climbing with a great view of the lake behind me. Outside of climbing I love canoeing in the boundary waters, fishing in Canada, and skiing in Colorado. I am also passionate about music. I play the french horn, trumpet, and piano. Throughout high school I played in many groups including the Wisconsin Youth Symphony and State Honors Orchestras. I also played in jazz band and pit orchestra for musical theater.

In college, I am continuing to make music more casually as well as exploring conducting and composing my own music. I am pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering at UW Madison, and I hope to someday find a career in the aerospace industry.

This summer, I am returning to DLCG where it all began so I can share my passion for climbing, and make climbing a sport that can be enjoyed by everyone. I can't wait to see y'all out there!
