Nothing Compares to Climbing
Have you ever been 50 or 60 feet off the ground? There's something scary about it, but exhilaration and freedom are there too. Climbing is great way to become intimately aware of your body and its abilities. In moving up the rock, we put ourselves into vulnerable positions where we must trust ourselves to move through an unfamiliar vertical landscape, one step at a time. The process is simultaneously intellectual, emotional, and physical. And the challenges of this process are different for everyone: One person might have difficulty figuring out the physical moves, while another sees the moves but has difficulty finding the courage to make them.
Despite the somewhat daunting impression climbing offers, those who embrace it often find a freedom like no other they have experienced. The first time you climb an entire route without falling, you might wonder: Could I have done that without the rope? Because I didn't actually use the rope... But that would be crazy! And that's when you realize how much power and ability lies within yourself when you find a safe place to explore it.
